Occurs in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic oceans.
Habitat: 
Most of the population occur below 140 m both day and night.

7 - 12 mm
Diet: 
Microplankton, detritus.
Predators: 
Consumed by fish.
Useful Facts or Characters: 

The eyes of the adults are bilobed, the upper lobe has 7-19 enlarged crystalline cones.  The third thoracic leg is elongated and bears a false chela.

There are different forms of this species, associated with separate geographical distributions.
