Distribution:
Occurs in the North and South Pacific, central and South Atlantic.
Habitat:
Appears not to migrate vertically; usually in 0-150 m stratum day and night in the cooler part of the California Current.

7 - 13 mm
Diet:
Microplankton.
Predators:
Important prey for fish, birds and whales.
Useful Facts or Characters:
Eyes are bilobed, with the upper lobe about half the width of the lower lobe.
Natural History:
This species has not been found in the Gulf of California.
